Job summary
The Complex Psychological Interventions (CPI) team is part of Bristol Mental Health services, working with adults across the lifespan with a broad range of complex and enduring mental health difficulties.
CPI comprises North, Central and South teams. We are a small team of committed therapists who work collaboratively in a supportive and friendly environment.
The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team based at the Greenway Community Centre in North Bristol. We work alongside a vibrant and busy Assessment and Recovery Team and provide consultation, clinical supervision and training to its staff. We work with service users with a variety of diagnoses and presentations, many with a complex trauma histories. We offer individual and group therapies around the core of arelational approach.
We offer complex assessment, formulation and provision of evidence-based psychological therapies including specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Third Wave approaches, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Psychotherapy, Arts Psychotherapies, Family Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Therapy (EMDR), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
The mix of therapeutic approaches offered by the team helps us to keep an open mind and hold different perspectives to ensure that we can offer individualised approaches and be sensitive to service users' needs. This often means working longer-term and more flexibly.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical/CounsellingPsychologist to join our team of Psychological Therapists at North Bristol CPI. The successful applicant can develop their own focus and will be supported to pursue further training within the remit of evidence-based therapies. They will provide specialist assessment, formulation and intervention and contribute to the development of 1:1 and group services.
The role involves working closely with the North BristolAssessment and Recovery Team, including provision of staff training, clinical supervision, consultation and attendance at MDT meetings. You will help to facilitate psychological thinking and promote a trauma-informed model of care across teams, thereby enhancing recovery staff interventions and supporting staff resilience and wellbeing. Excellent interpersonal skills andprevious experience of delivering supervision & training to staff withoutpsychological specialism are desirable.
You will receive excellent support and supervision from more senior and established CPI members. This includes regular contact with the other CPI teams across Bristol, regular CPD opportunities and the chance to develop innovative SI projects. We have close links to Bath and Exeter Universities, providing the opportunities to participate in teaching and supervision of clinical trainees.
The role requires in-person clinical work and team meetings. We encourage staff to work flexibly to meet their needs, including some home-working.
