Job summary

Cary Ward is an 8 bedded medium secure ward within Fromeside and Wickham secure services, based at the Blackberry Hill Hospital site. The ward provides care for adults with autism spectrum disorders and/or learning disabilities, some of whom also have a psychotic illness, who present a significant risk to others. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic RMN or RLDN, with an interest in working with this client group, to join our friendly, experienced multi-disciplinary team as ward manager.

Cary Ward is closely linked to the Forensic Intellectual, Neuropsychiatric & Developmental Disorders Team and there will be the opportunity to have support and supervision from senior nurses and other clinicians with expertise and experience in working with service users with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders and forensic needs.

We would therefore welcome applications from individuals with an interest in working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders, even if they may not have direct experience of working with this client group.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the duties of a Ward Manager including support of the team, involvement in the referrals and assessment process, clinical leadership, leadership of the team and managerial duties; with an overall emphasis on delivery of excellent care and a safe service.

Experience of working within an inpatient setting, experience of managerial and clinical leadership, and change management experience would be beneficial for the successful candidate.
