Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our Autism Diagnostic teams in Wiltshire and Swindon. Assessments are offered both face to face and remotely.

The post holder will bring their professional understanding of speech, language and communication to the formulation and diagnostic assessment of autism, working as part of a MDT. We will provide training in specific clinical tools, such as the ADOS2, if needed, as well as in house support and supervision. You will also have the opportunity to assess communication skills more specifically if required for individual cases.

SLTs are integral members of the multi-agency teams providing support to children and adults with autism.

We carry out our assessments according to a NICE gold standard pathway, using tools such as the ADOS, ADI-R, CAT-Q, and DISCO. Applicants must have experience of undertaking diagnostic assessments for autism using existing NICE-recommended tools, providing highly specialist therapeutic interventions with adults with autism spectrum conditions and enduring mental health problems, as well as having a proven track record of contributing to the development and delivery of innovative, evidence-based initiatives to improve the quality of life of adults with autism.

Main duties of the job

The primary focus of the post will be to provide high quality, complex diagnostic assessments for adults suspected of having autism spectrum disorder. The post-holder will be expected to make a significant contribution to the development and implementation of a novel, evidence-based diagnostic assessment pathway.
