A rare opportunity has arisen to provide cover for the 12 month career break of a valued member of our service. The successful applicant(s) will join our dynamic team of skilled Psychological Practitioners in Central Bristol and will become a member of the Complex Psychological Interventions Service (CPI). We are looking for someone with specialist training and skills in relational psychotherapeutic approaches. This will complement the rich and varied range of modalities represented within the team.
Central CPI works closely with the Central and East Bristol Assessment and Recovery Team. This team aims to provide a holistic mental health service, tailor-made to individuals from the point of assessment through to a range of high quality interventions needed to maximise recovery. The ability to consider issues of diversity, accessibility and equality of access are priorities for any successful applicant. The Central and East Bristol Assessment and Recovery Team covers a vibrant diverse community and applicants will need to consider ways to promote a service that is accessible to all.
This vacancy is open to both external and internal candidates. Internal candidates may wish to increase their working hours or may wish to apply for a secondment. Application for a secondment will require the approval of your manager.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide assessment and treatment of adults of working age and older adults based on relational psychotherapeutic principles and techniques.
The post holder will be expected to provide psychotherapeutic input into the multidisciplinary Central Recovery and Assessment team and to offer consultation, supervision and teaching to professional colleagues to the applicant's level of experience.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the broad range of clinical work undertaken by the team. In addition they will have the opportunity and encouragement to develop specialist skills in a particular area, in line with priorities agreed with the team. The post holder would be expected to have an interest in brief psychotherapeutic interventions as well as longer term work. This work may take place across a variety of settings.
The post holder will be expected to take a lead role in the provision of relational psychotherapy across Bristol, plan and implement service developments in collaboration with the Directors of the CPI service, the Medical Psychotherapist and local clinical and operational managers.
The post holder will be expected to offer clinical supervision (individual and group) to other professionals, psychotherapists and psychiatrists.

Clinical1. To offer highly specialist assessments and consultations to patients with complex mental health difficulties2. To provide relational psychotherapy to individual patients and groups (if the post holder has relevant training in group psychotherapy)3. To provide a detailed formulation of the service users difficulties following each assessment / consultation and a written summary of the assessment with suggested recommendations4. To liaise with Recovery teams, provide consultancy and identify appropriate care pathways for patients with complex needs within secondary services5. To work jointly with multidisciplinary colleagues within secondary services offering consultations, case management and case-based discussion and providing expert advice6. To participate in joint assessments with Recovery staff to support staff in planning care pathways for individuals and to support skill development7. To participate in the locality CPI referral meetings8. To participate in clinical supervision and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the CPI service9. If required, to provide clinical supervision to psychiatry trainees and contribute in that way to the mandatory training of psychiatry trainees in the Severn Postgraduate Medical Education footprint, therapists working under clinical license, CPI staff and staff working in the Recovery team

To advise the CPI Director, and the local Clinical Managers about service priorities and potential developments in the provision of relational psychotherapy4. Research and Development1. To initiate research as required by the needs of the local Service.2. To offer advice and support to other members of relevant teams undertaking research projects.3.
