Job summary

North East Ambulance Service operates an integrated service providing 111 and 999 services to the North East.

We are seeking sessional GPs to work in our Integrated Urgent Care Clinical Assessment Service.

As part of IUC-CAS, you'll work in a team comprising Doctors, AP's and Pharmacists, along with admin support.

The IUC-CAS provides remote phone and video assessment for urgent cases triaged via a health advisor or clinician. As a sessional GP you may be required to support the ambulance dispatch function, supporting and advising clinicians and/or crews on scene, who require senior clinical decision-making guidance.

Feedback and support - both ongoing and in relation to revalidation - will be provided through a structure that includes a Lead GP and Deputy Medical Director.

Candidates must be able to undertake remote assessment utilising both phone and video.

We've a range of shifts available covering both in hours and out of hours period: weekdays, evenings, bank holidays and overnight working.

Roles are varied and may include working on site, undertaking home visits supporting the out of hours palliative care service or working off site, based at home.

Our sites are located at Bernicia House, NE15 8NY, Russell House , NE 31 2JZ, and Winter House , TS22 5FG . Please note successful candidate(s) will be expected to work from Russell House depending on service requirements.

  • Full registration with General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Inclusion in a GP Performers List
  • Completion of Formal General Practice Training (or equivalent)
  • Current CPR Training
  • Current Safeguarding Children Level 3
  • Current Safeguarding Adults Level 3

Desirable

  • Care of the Sick Child online course (within six months of engagement)

Knowledge
