Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Procurement & Contracts Manager to join our developing & ambitious Procurement team. As a team we believe in providing an excellent service to enable our frontline staff deliver effective services to our patients, as well as a focus on continuous improvement.

You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal & organisational skills & possess a strong willingness to learn. You will need to be a team player with initiative, have a positive attitude & be able to manage workload to meet the demands of the role. Training will be provided on all systems & processes used.

Salary: Agenda for Change Band 6 - Current pay-scale is £35,392 to £42,618

Job Type: Permanent Post Working Pattern: 37.5 hours - remote working available.

Annual Leave: 27 days' annual leave (rising to 33 depending on length of service) plus bank holidays.

Location: Mainly remote working with requirement to attend meetings as required, typically at Trust Headquarters located at Newburn Riverside, Newcastle.

Main duties of the job

You will join a supportive team & receive full training on all aspects of the role & will provide an excellent procurement and contracts service to the organisation. Essential skills for the role are in the areas of public sector procurement & tenders as well as customer service, IT, and communication. The successful candidate must either be a member or studying towards Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply &/or have demonstrable knowledge, experience & expertise in a Procurement & Contracts role.

You will be responsible for undertaking procurement & contracting activity up to & beyond Central Government Threshold (previously EU) on behalf of the Trust, our subsidiary company & where necessary alongside public sector partners to support regional/national collaboration.

The post holder will provide assistance to the Head of Procurement, Contracting & Logistics on a number of agendas that support the delivery of the Trust's procurement & contracting activity, ensuring stakeholders are fully engaged & all relevant legislation followed (e.g. Public Contract Regulations).

The post holder will also provide professional/constructive challenge to departments in maintaining compliance, identifying opportunities for innovation & aggregation, while contribution to the Trust's Cost Improvement Plan.

Stores & Logistics

Work in conjunction with the Materials Manager & his team to ensure effective & compliant contracts are established in support of the Trust's Logistics service.
