Job summary
We're looking for a talented, resourceful Communications Support Officer to join our busy press office and help deliver effective media, digital and internal communications across the North East. This is an ideal opportunity for a budding communications professional who wants hands-on experience in a fast-paced emergency service.
Reporting to the Communications Manager, you'll monitor and update digital platforms, support the management of media enquiries (logging, responding or referring), maintain contact databases and the photo library, and help create content for internal and external channels. You'll support events and engagement activity, help ensure online content is accurate, accessible and consistent, and assist with monitoring coverage and engagement.
You'll have strong writing and editing skills, confidence using CMS/social platforms, and visual storytelling capability including Canva. Video production skills are important too - filming and editing short-form videos for social and internal channels.
Applicants will have knowledge of communications, public relations and marketing communication techniques, approaches and procedures and/or experience working in a press, PR or communications environment. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.
Main duties of the job
o Manage the administration of the press office ensuring that all media enquiries are logged, answered or referred on.
o Participate in developing multimedia content for internal and external media.
o Support the team in developing and implementing a strategy for off-line and online communications at the Trust.
o To be responsible for using content management systems and social networks to update internal and external messages and information in a timely manner.
o Ensure the timely production and distribution of all corporate communications, including internal and external publications, media responses and social media replies
o Ensure the timely production and distribution of all communications reports, including monitoring analysis and evaluations.
o Ensure the quality and format of the Trust's online multimedia content, ensuring consistency across pages, all working links and a continuous review and development of all online sites.
o Maintain and update an accurate and contemporary database of contacts for all stakeholders and Trust photo library
o Support event coordination.

From 01/04/25 If your role needs a DBS you'll be subject to salary deduction totaling £49.50, spread over first and second pay.
