Band 7 Practitioner Psychologist - Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)
Are you passionate about working at the intersection of neurology and psychology? We are seeking a motivated Practitioner Psychologist with a strong interest in Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) to join our FND Service based at the Rosa Burden Centre, Southmead Hospital.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-established, multidisciplinary team, working closely with Neuropsychology, Neuropsychiatry, Neurology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy colleagues to provide integrated, patient-centred care.
About the Role
You will deliver specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for individuals diagnosed with FND. You will play an active role in shaping holistic treatment pathways for both outpatients and inpatients, contributing to high-quality, evidence-based care.
Beyond direct clinical work, you will collaborate with the Consultant Neuropsychologist and wider multidisciplinary team to support ongoing service development. This includes embedding outcome measures, using data to evidence impact, engaging service users in co-production, contributing to quality improvement initiatives and participating in research activity.
Supervision and professional development are central to the role. You will receive strong support within a large, welcoming department and will also contribute to the supervision and mentorship of more junior colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver assessment, consultation and psychological intervention for people with a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). The post holder will work alongside the senior clinical psychologist / neuropsychologist, service manager, consultants and specialist nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists in evidence-based service delivery.
The postholder will be expected to contribute to the supervision of more junior staff, along with the wider multidisciplinary team. They will also support colleagues from across the south-west, and nationally through professional networks and teaching opportunities. We are actively involved in clinical research.
