Deputy Divisional Operations Director Group Clinical Services

Job summary

Reporting to the Divisional Operations Director, the post holder will be a key member of the NMSK Senior Management Team at North Bristol NHS Trust, with a dotted reporting line to the Associate Divisional Director Surgery UHBW. They will be accountable for maximising elective activity in Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O), Rheumatology and Pain across the Bristol Hospital Group and for facilitating the delivery of performance targets across three sites.

Additionally, the post holder will lead the Bristol Surgical Centre, ensuring delivery of defined benefits within the Business Case and sustaining the GIRFT Surgical Hub accreditation process. This will involve strategic system-wide leadership, influencing and collaboration with regional and national commissioners and stakeholders.

The post holder requires strong leadership, influencing and team-building skills. They will have significant operational management experience in an NHS or large public sector organisation, including budget accountability.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide system-wide leadership across BNSSG T&O services supporting clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • In collaboration with other members of the divisional senior management team, be responsible for the development and delivery of the business plans for T&O services across the Bristol Hospital Group.
  • Provide operational oversight, working closely with the General Managers, of the developing Rheumatology and Pain Group Clinical Services.
  • Deliver benefits realisation of the T&O, Rheumatology & Pain Group Clinical Service with oversight of clinical service integrations across acute, Sirona and primary care.
  • Manage departmental budgets to ensure efficient and effective use of resources and achievement of financial targets.
  • Direct line management of Assistant General Managers in T&O across the hospital group.
