Renal Technician (Healthcare Support Worker)

Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Health Care Support Worker to join our team of healthcare professionals in the NHS. As a Senior Health Care Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing excellent care and support to patients who are undergoing Assisted Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (AAPD) treatments in a variety of NHS settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and patients' homes.

You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse and perform tasks such as setting up and maintaining dialysis equipment, performing venepuncture, assisting with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort during treatment.

Please note, this role does not currently meet the minimum £25,000 salary threshold required for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, effective from 9th April 2025. Although higher pay points may be available depending on relevant NHS experience, most new appointments commence at the lower band, which falls below this threshold.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver clinical and therapeutic care, within the clinical and home setting using set protocols and within scope of Senior Health Care Support Worker remit.
  • Organise and prioritise time effectively.
  • Provide high quality patient care, appropriate to patient need. Be responsible for a group of patients as part of a programme of agreed development.
  • Take personal responsibility for ensuring that patients are treated with courtesy at all times, the individual needs of the patients are respected, and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Promote and value the rights, responsibilities and diversity of people
