This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly motivated,f riendly and dynamic respiratory team who are dedicated to delivering patient-centred,high-quality care to meet the needs of our population.
We are looking to recruit to two,substantive general respiratory consultants posts based at North Bristol NHS Trust. The jobs will comprise a mix of inpatient care, respiratory in-reach and outpatient clinics(including admission avoidance clinic).There is flexibility to allow successful applicants to develop the service according to their skills and experience and participate in quality improvement and teaching.
We are looking for consultant physicians with experience of working in respiratory medicine, who can deliver excellent care to our patients and work with us to further develop our service to meet the needs of our population.
This role is pending Royal College approval.
Main duties of the job
These appointments will support the general respiratory and specialist work of the department.The job plans will include contributions to respiratory and general medicine ward work, 2 outpatient clinics per week and will contribute to our general respiratory consultant rota, including seeing in-reach referrals, covering our admission avoidance 'hot' clinic and weekend cover of our respiratory bed-base.
The postholders will have commitments within the base Acute trust (North Bristol NHS Trust) and will undertake one clinic per week in a satellite unit (Cosshamor Thornbury).

Essential
- Maintain Full registration with the GMC.
- Must have CCT Respiratory and general medicine and have been entered on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of the appointment.
- Specialist registrars that do not hold a CCT must be due to be awarded one within 6 months of the interview date.
- MRCP or equivalent qualification is required
- CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.
Desirable
- Higher academic qualification (e.g., MD or MS).
Training And Experience
Essential
- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 8 years postgraduate experience including higher surgical/medical training, three years as a Senior Registrar in an approved training post, or equivalent. Part of this period may be in a post of equivalent responsibility and training potential.
- Training in diagnosis and treatment of Respiratory conditions
Desirable
- Educational supervisor accreditation.
Further Training, Management, Audit

- Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career.
- Experience in audit project and written up
- Knowledge of contemporary NHS management issues.
