Job summary
Work as part of the Preoperative Administration team to deliver a coordinated and responsive service to patients, their relatives, visitors, and staff. Carry out a range of administrative duties in relation to the day-to-day running of Preoperative Assessment. This will include booking of appointments, admitting and discharging of patients.Preparation of clinical notes for upcoming clinics.
You will play a central role within the service and are required to liaise with hospital medical staff, other departments, patients, and thegeneral public.
You will cover the Pre-Op reception on a rotation to receive patients, their relatives and other visitors into the Preoperative Assessment Clinic and promote an efficient, courteous, and responsive service.
Maintain close working relationships with nursing, medical and managerial staff that use preoperative assessment clinic to provide a seamless service.
Escalate patient queries, capacity problems and general issues to the role's line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate.
Main duties of the job

Participate in the day-to-day activities of the administrative and clerical team working within the Preoperative Assessment clinic.

Support the nursing staff in the effective running of the Preoperative Assessment service, ensuring that work is organised and prioritised effectively and that acceptable standards aremaintained.

Participate in staff training asrequired.

Maintain effective communication within the administrative and clerical team.

Receive patients and their relatives into the Preoperative Assessment clinic and promote an efficient, courteous, and responsive service.

Occasional contact with carers or patients who may be emotionally upset and may present in challengingways

Assistpatient with questionnaires by inputting for example their general health and social circumstances on Synopsis for them.

Create and trace notes inan accurateandtimelymanner

Prepare Preoperative Assessment Clinics including inputting data onSynopsis

Deal with incoming telephone calls and pass on if necessary.

Prep Clinical notes ready in advance for all appointments.

Dealing with queries from patients and clinical teams by phone,emailand face to face.
