Are you an experienced Midwife looking for a new opportunity? We have a senior leadership role in our Maternity services which is an exciting career opportunity for ambitious and dynamic Midwives.
In this role you will work closely with the Maternity Matron team, the Band 7 labour ward co-ordinators and the centralised Triage department to ensure that the Maternity unit is operationally safe, effective and well led.
You will have the clinical oversight of the Maternity Unit to improve the flow and capacity management. You will ensure compliance with the national safety recommendations. You will provide real time situational awareness and enable early escalation of risks.
You will demonstrate a high level of communication and organisational skills and be a key stakeholder for the development and management of the individuals within the team.

Main duties of the job
- Provides real-time situational awareness of staffing levels, acuity, and bed availability across all maternity areas.
- Enables early escalation of clinical or operational risks to senior leadership or obstetric teams.
- Ensures efficient patient movement between triage, labour ward, and postnatal areas to prevent bottlenecks.
- Reduces delays in induction of labour, theatre access, and discharges.
- Enhances ability to manage surges in demand, including out-of-hours.
- Supports the centralised telephone triage service by overseeing calls and managing admissions

Our maternity department has 5200 births each year. Our involvement in world renowned research has led to the development of PROMPT. At our last CQC inspection, we were rated as 'good'. We have a consultant led Obstetric Unit with 2 HDU rooms, 9 birthing rooms and a pool room. We have an alongside birth centre and active home birth service. We host the Regional Maternal Medicine service, including a Fetal Medicine service.
