Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Technician - Musculoskeletal Outpatients

Job summary

The post holder will be working as a band 4 under the supervision of a registered Physiotherapist. The post holder is expected to work as part of the North Bristol Trust Physiotherapy Musculoskeletal Outpatient team, providing a range of interventions to facilitate recovery and promote independence.

To treat patients referred by physiotherapists, tasks to include organising and implementing physical treatment sessions from treatment protocols and monitoring patient progress. The applicant may also adapt/progress treatment plans as necessary with advice from qualified physiotherapy staff. The post holder may lead or assist group rehabilitation sessions promoting exercise and self- management skills.

The role involves both direct patient contact and indirect patient related duties. It is also necessary to undertake some administration and departmental duties i.e. booking patient appointments, coordinating patient groups and liaising with multi-disciplinary team.

There is limited flexibility on working hours and days, this will be discussed at interview.

There will be participation in the weekend working rota on the inpatient orthopaedic wards; one weekend day every four weeks. The post-holder will also work one weekend Bank holiday and one weekday Bank Holiday per year.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide rehabilitation to patients following orthopaedic surgery and for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions/injuries, under the indirect supervision of a physiotherapist.

The post holder will run/assist in running rehabilitation groups to aid recovery, improve fitness and self-management of a patient's condition. You will be expected to assist with these groups in both an administrative and clinical role.

The post holder will need to be a versatile, adaptable team player who has good organisational skills and be competent using multiple computer systems; a good knowledge of IT is essential. The post holder will be encouraged to be proactive during your day and seek opportunities to support the service, as well as take on delegated duties from the clinical team.

The post-holder will participate in the weekend rota working on the trauma and orthopaedic wards; working no more than 1 weekend day every 4 weeks. The postholder will also work one weekend Bank holiday and one weekday Bank holiday per year.
