Job summary
Applications are invited for a suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our committed and enthusiastic team in the Blood Sciences department at North Bristol NHS Trust. The department, which consists of Immunology, Haematology & Transfusion and Clinical Biochemistry provides a wide range of services to acute and primary care within the Bristol area and also provides a number of regional services.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and dynamic individual with excellent leadership skills, who along with the Blood Sciences Service Manager and Clinical Heads of Service will be responsible for the delivery of an efficient, expert and cost-effective Blood Sciences service for North Bristol NHS Trust and all other service users.
Main duties of the job
Working with the Blood Sciences Manager and Clinical Heads of Service provide an efficient, expert and cost effective Blood Sciences service for North Bristol NHS Trust and all other service users. This will include responsibility for continuing quality improvement and overall performance of the service, ensuring all training, health and safety and quality management requirements are appropriate and implemented. Overall oversight of all quality management elements including final oversight of all method documentation within given areas of responsibility. Working with the clinical leads of the specialisms to review the strategic requirements of the service and ensure that where appropriate this ensure that the service remains at the forefront of service delivery, quality and patient pathway delivery.

To provide overall management, organisation, and operational problem solving for the laboratory service and its day-to-day operation across relevant Severn Pathology sites. Operationally manage effective business continuity management and resilience arrangements. Working with the Service Manager in the management and delivery of quality and quantity of employee productivity, scheduling and coordinating workforce availability, including rostering, training planning, skills development and succession planning. To deliver, the integration of services from existing arrangements including project managing service moves and introduction of new ways of operating.
Working collaboratively with Severn Pathology lead roles, accountability for quality and governance of laboratory services, including ensuring accreditation and quality control and assurance standards are met.
