Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated physiotherapist to join our Clinical Leadership Outpatient team on a fixed term contract for one year (maternity leave cover).
We are looking for a physiotherapist with specialist musculoskeletal (MSK) and rheumatology physiotherapy skills and a keen interest in developing their leadership skills and experience.
Ideally, you will have some evidence of leadership skills, service development experience, time management skills and excellent communication skills.
The role will comprise a four day working week - Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday and Friday with a non-working day on Mondays. You will be located on a North Bristol NHS site.
We would be very happy to arrange for you to have an informal visit of the physiotherapy outpatient department within the Brunel building in Southmead Hospital.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality physiotherapy service by self and others through caseload management, supervision and development of physiotherapy staff and students. Participation in operational management, modernisation and professional development of physiotherapy services.
- To be an autonomous physiotherapy practitioner performing an advanced assessment of patients with musculoskeletal and rheumatology conditions; formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan. Caseload will include patients with complex disorders and/or presentations.
- To take a lead role in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of senior clinicians, junior clinicians, technical instructors/physiotherapy support workers, physiotherapy students (possibly including those at Masters level)
- As clinical team lead, to be responsible for operational management and service improvement within the MSK and rheumatology outpatient physiotherapy teams.
- To initiate, supervise and participate in evidence-based projects/service development and be responsible for implementing changes within the MSK and rheumatology physiotherapy service; setting and monitoring standards of practice
- To deputise for the Physiotherapy Outpatient Services Manager as required
- To disseminate information/advice from the Manager or Head of Service to the MSK and rheumatology outpatient teams.
