Pharmacy Logistics Coordinator- Band 5

Job summary

As part of a dynamic Logistics team, the successful candidate will be required to supervise the Band 2 and Band 3 Pharmacy Assistants and Band 4 Logistics Supervisors within the Pharmacy Logistics roomThe role will require excellent attention to detail, time management, and would ideally suit someone who has a methodical approach. As the workload can vary throughout the day, the successful candidate will need to be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, changing environment, but also be able to manage and utilise staff within the team effectively during quieter spells.Ideally, you will also need to have a proactive and flexible approach to work, whilst having the ability to appropriately delegate workload to meet tight deadlines.Communication is vital in this role, as you will constantly be interacting with staff both within and outside of the organisation, as well as liaising with patients and relatives regarding the collection/delivery of their medication.With this being a Coordinator role, there will also be full training provided (if required) to assist with various HR aspects, such as Staff Appraisals and supporting staff following a return to work after sickness absence, e.t.c.

Main duties of the job

The role will primarily require coordinating the transportation of medicinal products off-site through the use of approved couriers.Due to the nature of this role, it will be vital to have awareness of legislation and guidance in place such as the requirements of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and GDP (Good Distribution Practice), of which, appropriate training will be provided. As we also supply external entities and other hospitals you would also need knowledge and awareness of the requirements for supply medication under a Wholesale Distribution Authorization - WDA(h), detailed in chapter 9 of the MHRA's guide to 'Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Distributors'.
