Our Infectious Disease ward in our Medicine division are looking for a dynamic, motivated and experienced support worker to join their fast paced, varied and supportive team!
The ward currently have 32 beds with an isolated High Consequence Infectious Disease (HCID) area, comprising of 6 beds which revert to 2 when a HCID patient is present.
Our multidisciplinary team consists of Infectious Disease Consultants, Resident Doctors, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists who all work collaboratively to treat a complex mix of medical patients.
Main duties of the job
A Senior Healthcare Support Worker (SHCSW) is a core member of the team delivering direct care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.
You will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare, or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner, in accordance with the Trust values.
There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, specific to your needs. Training will be provided to ensure you have the required core skills and skills set specific to your area of work.

1. Obtain consent prior to giving care in accordance with Trust policies.2. Duties are delegated to you in line with care plans3. Not all duties are routine, and you will need to use your knowledge, experience and understanding to takedecisions within your area of responsibility4. Essential
- One of the following: o Level 3 (SCQF - 6): - City and Guilds 3 o NVQ 3 o BTEC National Diploma o Experience equivalent to the above qualifications (minimum of 12 months)
- GCSE grade A- C (grade 4 and above) or equivalent in English
- GCSE grade A- C (grade 4 and above) or equivalent in Maths
- o Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Healthcare Support Worker) o Or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Completion of Band 3 Clinical Skills Training i.e venepuncture, cannulation, physiological measurements
