Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a passionate and enthusiastic nurse to join a newly created Acute Response Team at North Bristol NHS Trust. This team will deliver safe, effective, and timely clinical intervention to adult inpatients who are acutely unwell or at risk of deterioration.

This nurse led team will act with a high degree of autonomy to support high quality care for acutely unwell adult inpatients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Practitioners in this team will respond to acute deterioration at an early stage. They will provide an advanced clinical assessment and initiate investigation and clinical intervention to avert further deterioration. They will work in close collaboration with the parent specialty and ward teams to deliver high quality care and will support education of ward staff across the multi-disciplinary team. They will provide critical care knowledge and skills including routinely reviewing ICU discharges, using non-invasive ventilation, CPAP and High Flow Nasal Oxygen, and supporting emergency intubations occurring outside the ICU.

They will be the effectors of Martha's Rule within the Trust, responding to patients' and relatives' concerns with compassion and sincerity, offering rapid clinical review as required. They will undertake audit and evaluation of their workload and engage actively with clinical governance to ensure patient safety and high-quality outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Enhanced practitioners will work with a high degree of autonomy. They will work with the support and education of the Advanced Clinical Practitioners but will be able to undertake high quality clinical assessment for patients across a range of specialties and effect early intervention in response to clinical deterioration.
