Main duties of the job
Interface and provide Procurement advice
Working with the Category Manager, act as the client lead for high value and complex projects and sourcing programmes related to products or services as appropriate.
Provide procurement advice for complex contentious Network procurement negotiations.
In conjunction with stakeholders, review services and suppliers.
Identify opportunities to consolidate/aggregate expenditure.
Research the markets and give commercial/contractual advice on the procurement options, process and rules.
Use procurement expertise to enable partners to make decisions and produce accurate specifications

Job responsibilities
To support in the leadership and development of a team to take responsibility for the procurement and management of procurement projects (either products or services). This will include holding a delegated portfolio of projects. The post holder will foster a highly professional and responsive client service approach, implementing strategic sourcing and strong stakeholder engagement to achieve best value for money. This will include reviewing, negotiating and drafting documentation to meet the needs of joint procurement opportunities across the Networks, ensuring cost optimisation, strengthening supplier relationships and delivering savings targets to support the performance improvement programme.

They will assist in the management of the teams resources and enhance expertise to enable staff to deliver plans, quality improvements, saving targets and day to day operations. They will also deputise for the Category Manager in their absence.

- Knowledge of professional purchasing principles acquired through Degree or Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPs) or equivalent experience

- Project management qualification or equivalent experience
