Job summary
- To provide an efficient and sympathetic reception service to patients, relatives and staff who attend the Medical Day Care unit, ensuring that processes are followed in relation to booking in, checking out, cashing up etc.
- To liaise with the scheduling team to ensure that patient/staff queries are dealt with sympathetically and that processes are followed and appointments are booked according to policy.
Main duties of the job
- The workload is mostly predictable.
- The post holder will be required to use a PC and so this post is classified as a DSE user
- Physical work is mainly light, for example the lifting of files of patient notes.
- Receptionists may have to deal with patients with special needs or unpredictable behaviour.
Occasionally dealing with patients who are angry, upset and frustrated, both in person and on the telephone.
