Job summary

Come work with us in the Imaging department based primarily at North Bristol NHS Trust.

We are currently seeking Imaging Appointment Clerks to join our busy team based at Southmead hospital (Concorde House).

Fulltime/Part time hours to be discussed at interview.

We are looking for a competent booking clerk(s) to support our MRI, Flouroscopy and Nuclear Medicine teams. You will need to ensure that appointments are managed in line wit the the National Targets for Diagnostic Imaging.

You will be expected to book appointments, send out letters and liaise with patients over the phone regarding their appointments. You will be expected to participate with incoming calls during busy times.

Experience and knowledge of the hospital systems CRIS ICE and Careflow would be advantageous however full training will be given.

You will need to be educated to NVQ 3, GCSE C or equivalent, be a excellent communicator, have a good attention for detail and have the ability to work under pressure.

It is essential that you are able to work well in a team and manage and complete tasks on your own.

At times this is a pressurised role but rewarding

To provide a comprehensive appointment booking service, general clerical duties and provide cover for the contact centre when required within the Imaging Department of North Bristol NHS Trust

Job responsibilities

Provide a professional and competent appointment service for patients and staff for the Radiology Department.

  1. Act as a point of contact for Imaging appointment queries for patients, referring professionals and staff from other hospitals
  2. Check patient demographics in CRIS (Computerised Radiology Information System) with the hospital system
  3. Manage various modalities orders, request, pending and vetting lists
  4. Allocate/offer appropriate appointment times using independent judgement in line with departmental and national guidelines
  5. Confirm appointments in writing ensuring appropriate information is provided for the patients (including relevant prep)
  6. Manage any re-book appointments in line with departmental and national guidelines.
  7. Follow up patients who fail to respond to their appointment (DNA) adhering to the appropriate process.
  8. Manage appointment confirmation details (updating CRIS).
  9. Input and update accurate attendance, personal and appointment details on CRIS
  10. When required receive and assist patients and all visitors attending the department ensuring request forms and other documentation is correctly completed.
  11. Have a flexible approach to enable the continuous smooth running of the office.
  12. Form and maintain good working relationships with all linked professionals and colleagues in the department.
  13. To ensure any compliments and complaints, from any source, are reported immediately to their Line Manager.
  14. Adhere to the Trust and Departmental policies, procedures and guidelines

  • Infection Control
  • Major Incidents
  • Dress code
  • Sickness absence
  • Punctuality etc.
  1. Participate in Annual Appraisal reviews with a nominated appraiser.
  2. Support and participate in training.

  4. Report all incidents of injury to themselves or patients to a line manager and complete appropriate incident form.
