Job summary

The division of Anaesthesia, Surgery, Critical Care and Renal is looking for a dynamic and experienced senior nurse to take on the role of Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing.

The post holder will work with the wider surgical management team and deputise for the Divisional Director of Nursing whilst being professionally responsible for a defined cohort of nursing services in the division. They will report to the Divisional Director of Nursing and work in partnership with the other deputy divisional director of nursing, general management team and speciality leads to provide strong and effective leadership in order to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services to clinical users and patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have direct line management of a number of Clinical Matrons and other divisional senior personnel providing leadership to these individuals and ensuring assignments are in place to set objectives, monitor performance and agree, review and deliver personal development needs.

The post holder will also provide leadership in the following areas:

  • Clinical
  • Operational
  • Strategic
  • Clinical Governance

The post holder will be responsible for their own administration, including record keeping, preparing/presenting reports and providing effective communication of local, national, Trust information or guidance to all nursing teams.
