Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Medicine for a Ward Receptionist to work 20 hrs per week on Gate 10a, a complex care ward. This will involve working a changing pattern of Monday-Friday working 3 days a week (0700-1700). This will also involve working some bank holidays.

This is an exciting role front of house, working closely with clinical colleagues to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting role Front of House, working closely with clinical colleagues to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care.

The role requires someone who has a great level of attention to detail and good organisational skills, working in a busy ward environment. You will act as the first point of contact for patients and carers visiting the ward.

Successful candidates will need to be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure, work well as part of a team and have great communication skills.

The post holder will be required toadmit and discharge all patients, update the bed board answer telephone enquiries and keep admin up together.

Previous experience of Front of House reception work is desirable.

  • To participate in the preparation and the running of the Reception.
  • To answer telephone enquiries from patients, medical staff and other hospitals, dealing with enquiries in a professional manner and referring to the relevant person where necessary.
  • To prepare in-patient notes ensuring all relevant documentation is included.
  • Taking responsibility for the tracing in and out of medical records.
  • To ensure all outcomes are completed on the PAS system.
  • To be responsible for restocking stationary.
  • To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • To provide annual leave and sickness cover as required.
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.
