Job summary

Quality Governance Information Analyst (Band 7)

Reporting to the Quality Governance Systems Manager, the post holder will work as a core member of the central quality governance function, bringing together a range of disparate bespoke IT systems, end user created databases and spreadsheets into a single system (Radar Healthcare). The postholder will then use that output of the single system to report status, highlight gaps and influence direction and improvement workstreams through the design and creation of analytics dashboards.

They will also be responsible for creating dashboards from multiple systems including Radar system, Careflow and others to give a consolidated view and support the data-driven CQC requirements. The postholder will also deputise for the Quality Governance Systems Manager on occasions.

Main duties of the job

The focus of the post holder will be in the areas of:

  • Day to day management of the Radar Quality Governance system and related processes, analytics and reports.
  • Ensuring that systems, processes, and guidance support good Quality Governance, including the need to satisfy and support the requirements of key external regulators.
  • Supporting the provision of high-quality management information to executive & divisional teams to facilitate learning and shape quality improvement work.
  • Create consolidated dashboards from key Trust systems (Radar, Careflow, ESR into Power BI).
  • Design, build, manage and maintain the Radar Healthcare analytics suite.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Design, build, manage and maintain the Radar Healthcare analytics suite. Building of dashboards aligned to each workstream (16 in total) to include:

  • Data Quality assured i.e. it is accurate, timely, clear what it covers and the time ranges/RAG parameters
  • User engagement assured i.e. the dashboards are designed with appropriate range of users to ensure it is fit for purpose intuitive, meaningful, KPIs etc.
  • User access assured i.e. it meets the purpose of visibility for the right people in the right functions linked to hierarchy etc.
  • Interoperability assured clear about what flows into our Data Warehouse to enable grab for future BI reporting (e.g. via Power BI if needed)
  • Trust assurance / insight assured dashboards developed that support corporate oversight of the area and useful inputs into committee/board reports etc.
  • To produce reports and analysis to investigate activity trends within the Trusts as required.
  • To develop and produce routine corporate performance reports to service the needs of the Trust Board, Executives and other Senior Groups within the Trust.
  • To make certain internal, external and ad-hoc deadlines are met (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) to manage own workload and prioritise tasks for reports and information queries assigned to the post holder.
  • To raise any issues or concerns with workload immediately with the Quality Governance Systems Manager if deadlines cannot be met.
  • To contribute to the Trusts efforts to improve data quality.
  • To lead on the specification and development of processes for complex datasets using a wide-ranging technical and analytical skill-set.
  • To lead on the production and automation of a reporting suite that provides managerial and clinical insight into clinical directorates. Ensuring that appropriate documentation and data quality processes are in place within the team.
  • To ensure reports produced by the post holder are of the highest quality, ensuring that validation checks exist or are undertaken at all stages of production.
  • Support a consistent approach to analysis and monitoring of service improvement throughout the Trust.

  • To develop good working relationships throughout the Trust
  • To provide a sensitive, pro-active, customer focused information service, in collaboration with other members of the systems team.
  • To communicate often complex or contentious technical issues in a methodical and understandable way to often non-technical audiences.
  • To be the subject matter expert for all queries and information issues related to assigned directorate.
  • Manage and influence user expectations with reference to the data that is available and presentation methods that would suit them.
  • To ensure managers and staff understand what monitoring reports they should use and the Targets applied
  • To prepare ad hoc reports for senior information staff, various managers and other clinical and non-clinical users within agreed timescales and to encourage them to articulate their needs.
  • To present complex information in an appropriate medium to assist managers and other staff who may want to do further analysis work.
  • Build and sustain successful working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders throughout the Trust, presenting information and explaining highly complex issues to them.
  • Lead on the production and automation of detailed and timely Directorate reports providing information on performance, activity, finance, workforce and clinical quality, for distribution to Executives, Directorate Managers and Clinicians and other senior staff within the organisation.
  • To ensure the databases required to support analysis requirements are specified, understood and produced by the Data Warehouse or Business Intelligence Team.
  • Understand and interpret complex information and analytical requirements and support, develop and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • To assist and cover for other team members at times of heavy workload and absence, as directed by Quality Governance Systems Manager or the Assistant Director of Business Intelligence.

  • University Degree in mathematics, statistics, computing, healthcare informatics or an equivalent degree or work experience
  • Demonstrate high level of computer proficiency and with Microsoft products
  • Experience of self-service platforms to build BI reporting (i.e. Qlik Sense, Power BI)
  • Significant experienced in data interrogation using SQL, developing complex data queries for analysis and reporting.
  • An ability to summarise complex technical information and present this to non-technical audiences

Desirable

  • MSc within an Informatics or Informatics related discipline, or an equivalent degree or work experience.
