Job summary

This post will provide the clinical and managerial leadership with the Matron taking responsibility for providing a clear focus for the profession and effective clinical leadership and accountability for the service. They will be responsible for ensuring that the team act in a manner that upholds the values of the Trust and that of the profession.

Working in collaboration with the Matron and Specialty team the individual will be expected to:

  • Participate in activity with the Specialist team to manage and develop the service in line with local and national requirements ensuring the delivery of performance targets;
  • Line manage a team of staff working within designated clinical area;
  • Work closely with Matron to ensure the efficient and effective running of area of responsibility;
  • Have overall responsibility for ensuring their clinical area is safe
  • Deputise for the Matron and form part of the Directorate senior team;
  • Contribute to the development of patient-centred services;
  • Be responsible for successful attainment of Trust and National quality and safety objectives within area of responsibility; and
  • Provide expert clinical advice and care within designated area of

We have a vacancy a for Band 7 Community Team Leader to help support our community midwifery teams.

The Community Midwifery Service for which we are currently recruiting, covers South Gloucestershire, North Bristol and North Somerset.

The service at North Bristol Trust provides a full range of obstetric services for those who live in the catchment of North Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. Our maternity department has 5200 births each year. Our involvement in world renowned research has led to the development of PROMPT. At our last CQC inspection, we were rated as 'good', meaning we are performing well and meeting expectations. About us

We have a consultant led Obstetric Unit with 2 HDU rooms, 9 birthing rooms and a pool room. We have an extensive Maternal Medicine service, including Perinatal Mental Health, Complex Care team, Fetal Medicine service. Our antenatal ward hosts a Triage, day assessment area inpatient ward. Our postnatal ward prides itself on giving the best quality postnatal care.

Be responsible for the day to day operational management of the team. Provides professional and managerial leadership.

Have knowledge of up-to-date developments and contemporary issues in midwifery/nursing policy and practice
