Job summary

Occupational TherapyOwing to service expansion, an exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a band 7 occupational therapist to join our team in neuropsychiatry, predominantly working with individuals experiencing Functional Neurological Disorders (FND).

The Rosa Burden Centre is a regional specialist unit for FND and currently runs a 3 week elective inpatient rehabilitation program for patients with a diagnosis of FND. We are now in a position to significantly expand our team, which will enable us to develop an outpatient service to complement the inpatient program and reach patients without them having a hospital stay. The service is about to undergo a huge period of growth, in which the appointee will have ample opportunity to be part of developing various parts of the service, alongside an experienced Band 7 OT and other members of the MDT.

Much is being done in research and health care settings currently to promote awareness of FND to health care professionals and beyond. Here at the Rosa Burden Centre we are passionate about taking this forwards and delivering well evidenced, person centred care to our patients.

There are options available for those wishing to work flexibly, either full or part time and we are happy to discuss the opportunities we can offer.

Main duties of the job

You will be sharing the role of team lead, alongside an established Band 7 in this challenging and rewarding setting.

Responsibilities will include running the functional neurological disorders inpatient program, offering personalised rehabilitation plans, supervising junior staff and assisting in the development of an occupational therapy outpatient service. Therapy will be delivered through groupwork and 1:1, via face to face and remote platforms, requiring specialist therapeutic skills.

The multi-disciplinary team work closely to ensure the best possible patient experience. You will be liaising with healthcare professionals both locally and nationally to offer advice and education.
