The Lead Legacy Mentor role should appeal to senior, experienced healthcare professionals in the late stages of their career. You will be helping newly qualified nurses by imparting your knowledge, skills and experience through coaching and supporting them in the early stages of their career. You will need to demonstrate empathy and patience, be passionate about your profession and be able to provide pastoral support to others. We can all reflect on the importance of mentors and role models in our own careers, and this is an opportunity to have that kind of influence on the incoming generation as they set out on a career in health and care.
This role will be key in leading a service supporting newly qualified colleagues to stay and stay well. You will need to be confident in building relationships and collaborating with others. You will be providing coaching and mentoring.
You will have active NMC registration. In addition, you should have either have an accredited teaching qualification or experience in supporting learners in practice. You will be able to work flexibly to mentor and coach colleagues as well as work from home when necessary.

Main duties of the job
The Lead Legacy Mentor will lead a new team of legacy mentors to set up this service within North Bristol NHS Trust. The key aim of the service is to improve the employee experience and therefore retention of staff. The role holder will manage and take overall responsibility for establishing the legacy mentoring service throughout the organisation, working with a range of stakeholders to gain their support and buy in.
The Lead Legacy Mentor will be responsible for the coordination of the service, establishing a framework which ensures that different stakeholders can access the service across NBT to ensure consistency of support throughout the organisation. The Lead will work as part of the wider Clinical Education Team and make a key contribution to staff experience through provision of specialist mentoring expertise and service development skills. They will provide professional nursing leadership and guidance, advice and management in relation to the key dimensions of education.
