Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, passionate nurse to join the team on 9A as a sister/charge nurse.

9A is committed to providing the highest quality care to frail, complex patients and the team develops patient-centred services that enable people to age well

The successful candidate will have a passion for nursing quality and excellent patient experience.We would expect the ideal candidate to have recent acute medical or acute frailty experience. This would include evidence of leadership and student mentorship.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the day to day running of Gate 9A with a dedicated team of nurses.

Supervision, support and continued professional development of a range of nursing staff.

Participation in the planning development and evaluation of services within Gate 9A.

Job responsibilities

  • Day to day manage of a team of staff working within designated clinical area.
  • Work closely with Supervisory Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure the efficient and effective running of area of responsibility.
  • Have overall responsibility for ensuring their clinical area is safe during each shift.
  • Deputise for the Supervisory Sister/Charge Nurse and form part of the speciality senior nursing team.
  • Contribute to the development of patient-centred services.
  • Contribute to the successful attainment of Trust and national quality and safety objectives.
  • Provide specialist clinical advice and care within designated area of responsibility.
  • Ensure safe and effective patient flow through the emergency zone and on to through the inpatient wards
  • The individual will be visible and accessible to patients and their families and staff, ensuring all patients and their families have the opportunity to seek information, help and support or to communicate problematic or celebratory issues.
