Job summary
The AvonCAP research team is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Nurse or Clinical Studies Officer to join the team at North Bristol NHS Trust.
You will be supporting the research team to deliver safe and effective research in respiratory infection and acute respiratory disease.
Acute lower respiratory tract disease remains among the most important cause of hospitalisation and death around the world, but the disease burden and risk factors for disease remain unclear. Importantly, whilst there are current and pipeline vaccines against respiratory infection, we do not know how much disease they will prevent and what patient groups may benefit the most from vaccination strategies.
You will work with a group of enthusiastic, friendly and dedicated doctors, research nurses, clinical studies officers and administrators to deliver the research in this area. There will be opportunities to work on other research projects within the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Team
Main duties of the job
Band 5 Research Nurse or Clinical Studies Officer
Full time (37.5hrs per week)
12 month fixed term contract
Key elements of this role include:
- liaising with healthy volunteers and patients
- screening and consenting participants for enrolment
- monitoring participants during in-patient stays
- undertaking clinical study procedures (including phlebotomy, nasal sampling and urine collection)
- Collecting and inputting clinical data.
