General Manager - Endoscopy Services, North Bristol NHS Trust, Band 8b

An opportunity has arisen for a key leadership role within one of the UK's largest NHS Hospital Trusts. We are looking for a dynamic individual, with excellent leadership skills,to join our team as the General Manager for Endoscopy Services. The post requires an individual who can lead teams, and work in partnership with clinical colleagues, to deliver high quality, patient-centred, Endoscopy services.

Main duties of the job

The key objectives in the short / medium term are:

  • Recovery of services to deliver care within recognised national timescales, following the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Delivery of national cancer targets.
  • Ensuring that services meet the needs of the local population and are cost effective.
  • Development and implementation of a Community Diagnostics Centre, in partnership with the appointed independent sector provider.
  • Improving patient experience and satisfaction.
  • Development of the Endoscopy workforce.

About us

This challenging yet rewarding role reports to the Head of Imaging and Endoscopy Services however there is an expectation of a high level of autonomy in the delivery of divisional and service specific objectives.

The successful candidate will work as part of the specialty management team and will work collaboratively with the Endoscopy clinical lead and matron, to deliver a clinical service that provides excellent patient experience and high-quality care. They will also provide leadership and support to the extended multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of cancer, emergency, and routine services.

  • Work closely with the divisional operations director, head of imaging and endoscopy, endoscopy specialty lead, divisional general managers, medical and nursing teams, etc, to ensure high levels of service, quality, and performance.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical services in line with the Trust's clinical strategy and annual objectives.
  • Establish robust performance management arrangements.
  • Lead the recovery of Endoscopy services post Covid-19 and respond to further challenges relating to backlog clearance.
  • Deputise for the Head of Imaging and Endoscopy or Divisional Operations Director as required.
  • Participate in the planning and management of capital projects, as required.
  • Participate in Trust on-call manager rota.
