Band 8a (0.6 WTE): Dietitian Team Leader (ICU)
We are looking for an enthusiastic Dietitian with good networking and team working skills to take on team leader responsibilities with direct support given to the ICU team. Experience in acute advanced nutrition support is essential with clinical experience in ICU and TPN desirable. The successful candidate will be taking on the day-to-day management and leadership of the ICU dietetic team, and this will include some clinical time on ICU.
The post-holder will undertake projects relating to nutrition trust-wide. They will contribute to service and policy development and support strategic, clinical and professional work regarding the Nutrition and Dietetics service to North Bristol NHS Trust. Examples include liaison with pharmacy and supporting the enteral feeding contract.
The ideal candidate will therefore be an all-rounder with advanced behavior change and clinical reasoning skills who already has some experience of managing people.
The post holder will also be involved in our training program for B and C placement student Dietitians.

Main duties of the job
- Day-to-day management and leadership of the ICU/ward dietetic team at Southmead.
- To actively contribute to service and policy development within the Nutrition and Dietetic Service
- To lead nutrition- related projects Trust-wide such as pharmacy liaison.
- To support strategic, clinical and professional work regarding the Nutrition and Dietetics service to North Bristol NHS Trust, social services, educational institutions, charitable organisations and other external agencies, to enable planning and implementation of service developments.
- Working within the department developing and extending partnership working with other health and social care professionals across the wider Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire health and social care community, including the voluntary sector.
- Act as a clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Lead in own specialist area, working as an autonomous and highly skilled clinician, without supervision. Accountable for own professional actions, managing a caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence-based principles and best practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. Some clinical time will be on ICU to support effective leadership.
- To deliver education and training, especially in nutrition support, to a range of health professionals, students and patients.
