The closing date is 09 April 2026

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our supportive Scarborough Community Team. You will provide evidence-based occupational therapy to adults in their own homes and community settings, completing holistic assessments and developing treatment plans that promote independence, safety and wellbeing. Working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, you will manage your own caseload, contribute to shared decision-making and offer specialist advice to colleagues, patients and carers.

We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified Occupational Therapists. Newly qualified staff will be supported through our structured Preceptorship Programme, enabling you to develop confidence and clinical skills in a nurturing environment.

As our services continue to grow, there may be opportunities to rotate into the Intermediate Care/Urgent Community Response Service covering Scarborough and Ryedale, offering wider experience in rehabilitation and rapid-response pathways.

Scarborough offers an excellent quality of life, with beautiful beaches, affordable housing, coastal walks and vibrant local communities. It is a great place to live and work, with a supportive team culture and strong professional development opportunities.

Due to the community nature of the role, you must hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, sharing clinical insights and supporting joint care planning.
  • Provide clear advice and education to patients, carers and other professionals on occupational performance, equipment and strategies to enhance daily living.
  • Prescribe and review equipment safely in line with Trust procedures, ensuring correct use and suitability for patient needs.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to Occupational Therapy Assistants, offering guidance and ensuring safe practice.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, following professional standards and Trust policies.
  • Contribute to service development, including pathway reviews, quality improvement and operational changes.
  • Participate in audit, research and evidence-based practice to support continual improvement.
  • Support student placements and contribute to a positive learning environment.
