Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1.0 WTE B7 Advanced Speech and Language Therapy post to provide a service for children and young people within Special Schools in Hull. Part time applications will also be considered.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering support at universal, targeted and specialist levels to support complex communication needs, AAC and dysphagia.
The Therapist will work in a small team of Speech and Language Therapists and Specialist Speech and Language Therapy assistants within the Special Schools but will be part of a larger service. They will work closely with other health professionals, educators, external agencies and parents/carers to ensure communication and feeding needs are understood, supported and embedded across the school day and beyond.
The wider Speech and Language Therapy Service spans across the city of Hull within the county of the East Riding of Yorkshire. Hull is known for it's maritime history and has many theatres and dining opportunities for the quintessential night out. The county is known for it beaches, coastlines and rolling hills perfect for exploring the outdoors. The area has excellent transport links with ferries to Europe, Humberside airport a short drive away, trains to London, York, Edinburgh and other UK cities.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a high quality, comprehensive service in line with the guidance of the Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and HCPC
- To be clinically responsible and accountable for the specialist service area of Hull Special Schools and AAC across the service.
- To continue to demonstrate advanced clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice re the service development and the delivery of care in partnership with patients, relatives, staff, commissioners, managers, external agencies across the agreed service area.
- To employ excellent presentation skills to promote multi-disciplinary and inter agency liaison and collaborative practice to broad range of audiences, including other professionals and service users.
- To continuously evaluate the level of clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
- To maintain knowledge of current research and clinical developments.
- Keep accurate and contemporaneous records in case note documentation in line with departmental and professional guidelines.
