Job summary

Are you a newly qualified, returning, or experienced Occupational Therapist looking to grow your skills across diverse services? Join our Band 5 Rotation at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.

Our rotation offers eight varied placements, including:

• Adult and Older People's CMHTs
• PSYPHER(First Episode Psychosis)
• Learning Disabilities (CTLD)
• Secure Services
• Home-Based Treatment (Crisis)
• Mental Health Rehabilitation (STaRS)
• CAMHS Inpatient Unit (Inspire)

Each placement provides strong supervision, learning opportunities, and the chance to develop holistic OT practice across a wide range of settings and diagnoses.

We've also offer an across-service rotation with CHCP and Humber Health Partnership, creating opportunities to gain experience in both mental and physical health services.

As an Occupational Therapist in Humber, you will have the opportunity to network and develop alongside more than 90 OT colleagues through our established Professional Network Forum. You'll also have access to our Band 5 Rotation and dedicated CPD Group, as well accessing our Multi-Professional Quality Marked Preceptorship Programme.

Main duties of the job

• This Rotation offers OT's the chance to consolidate their knowledge and develop both OT specific and generic skills that are transferable across teams and service user groups. We are therefore looking for people who will take the opportunities afforded by this, and who can foster effective working relationships with professionals and with service users.
• The post-holders will be expected to assess and deliver evidence-based OT interventions, to facilitate wellbeing and optimise independent functioning in self-care, productivity and leisure activities, from an occupational perspective.
• Interventions can take place in home environments, community settings and in-patient units, with flexibility of working required to meet service user needs.
• There may be an expectation to be involved in projects or service developments happening within teams allowing the post-holder to develop their skills within this area.
• All Occupational Therapists have access to supervision, CPD networks and the Rotational OT's can participate in a monthly Band 5 OT Development Group.
• The Trust has a very good Preceptorship programme, which dovetails well with more specific OT preceptorship requirements. Training is supported, together with leadership development programmes. We are committed to undergraduate student education, with occupational therapists encouraged after a reasonable period, to undertake the SLiP training and facilitate student placements

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
• A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area
• Knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice, standardised assessments and their use
• Basic IT Skills

Desirable

• Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to be a Practice Placements for students
• Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level e.g. degree or post graduate level or equivalent knowledge/experiential learning

Experience

Essential

• Successful completion or willingness to undertake and complete preceptorship
• Appropriate knowledge/experience of working in relevant service area
• Understanding of caseload management and care co-ordination responsibilities

Desirable

• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
• Evidence of specialist practice skills and able to demonstrate the impact of this on practice change/development
• Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation
