PICU is a 10 bedded mixed unit for patients experiencing an acute mental health crisis with associated risks. An Activity Co-Ordinator is a vital role within this environment, to develop, plan and deliver, therapeutic and engaging activities to support with holistic approach to care, assessment and treatment.

A motivated and creative individual will be required to engage patients with acute mental health needs, Health promotion would be the main focus of activities and interventions, with specific emphasis on coping strategies, anxiety management and physical health promotion. Leading and supporting in elements of Safe wards will be integral in order to maintain the trusts initiative.

Main duties of the job

As Activity Co-ordinator you would work within the scope of Nursing and Occupational Therapy and would be expected to support and conduct assessments within these remits.

Assessments, activities, interventions and documentation would be conducted in accordance with trust policies, procedures and guidelines as well as upholding the trusts behavioural standards.

As part of the role due to the pace of the ward we may at times need to undertake general healthcare assistant duties as and when directed to do so.
