Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual to join our team. You will need good communication skills and a compassionate approach in order to build and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users and colleagues, in what can be challenging circumstances. You will be joining a service which continues to develop its trauma informed practice and open culture.

The Assistant Psychologist post is based in the in-patient services within the Forensic Division at the Humber Centre and Pine View in Willerby, Hull. You will be based in a secure hospital working to support individuals across medium and low secure facilities. The successful candidate will join a friendly team of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists and contribute to the wider multi-disciplinary service all working to holistically address the needs and risks of our service users.

Main duties of the job

  • The role involves working with a range of clients with various mental health difficulties and offending behaviour histories. It will involve undertaking assessments including completing psychometric assessments, formulation and delivering both 1:1 and group interventions. There will also be file based tasks and report writing responsibilities.
  • The role also involves supporting the psychology department with maintaining records, data collection and analysis, reviewing documentation and other administrative tasks. There may also be the opportunity for involvement in audit, service evaluation and research.
  • The post holder will work under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, they will need to be able to take direction and utilise opportunities for knowledge and skills development. There will also be opportunity to be part of the wider divisional psychology team and learn from Forensic and Clinical psychologists regarding their areas of interest and expertise.
  • Candidates must hold a degree in Psychology.
