We are looking for an enthusiastic, self- motivated and innovative Occupational Therapist who is excited by the opportunity and challenge of working alongside professional colleagues in a dynamic Forensic Mental Health Service . We are a friendly and supportive team based within a medium and low secure forensic environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing Occupational Therapy interventions as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including assessment and consultation under the support and supervision of a Specialist Occupational Therapist.The applicant needs to have a foundational knowledge and skills, understand professional models. The Occupational Therapy service in the Trust is particularly keen to support and develop all clinicians in the use of theModel of Human Occupation (MOHO), Sensory Integration (SI), Occupational Formulation (OF)and other evidence-based approaches with good outcomes in the forensic field.

This clinical post therefore is ideal for Occupational Therapists who are skilled at engaging and motivating people, understand the value and potential of good occupational functioning and performance, and enjoy working with forensic patients.

As an Occupational Therapist you will have has access toprofessional supervisionand support from a Specialist OT.All OT's within the forensic services are part of aProfessional Network and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Group.

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council
  • A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice, standardised assessments, and their use in practice

Desirable

  • Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level e.g. degree or post graduate level or equivalent knowledge/experiential learning
  • Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
  • Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical and service area
  • Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to be a Practice Placements for students.

  • Successful completion or willingness to undertake preceptorship
