Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist nurse to join our Learning Disability Epilepsy service, covering Hull and East Riding. The service provides specialist assessment, management and reviews of adults with a learning disability and epilepsy including those with a VNS. The roll also is key in delivering training to collogues and other services regarding epilepsy.
You will be supported in the role by the epilepsy lead nurse and work closely with the consultant neurologist.The service also works collaboratively with the wider LD community team MDT's to ensure person centred, cohesive care.
A NMP qualification is advantageous but we welcome applicants who have not completed their NMP but are willing to undertake this on commencing the role. There will also be opportunity for further training and as identified by yourself and epilepsy lead nurse.
Main duties of the job
As a Specialist Nurse in Learning Disability Epilepsy, you will be expected to work autonomously as well as in a wider MDT. You will be responsible for completing initial assessments, supporting with the prescribing and management of individuals epilepsy as well as supporting with VNS's in the community. You will work alongside the Lead Nurse to support the wider LD team, partner agencies and care providers with the implementation of care plans regards to Epilepsy. As well as delivering Epilepsy focused training. You will continue to demonstrate specialist clinical skills in practice and provide support/advice re service development and the delivery of care, in partnership with service users, carers, staff, managers and other agencies.

To support the Lead Nurse in providing clinical and professional leadership to nurses within own area of responsibility.
To support the Lead Nurse and other colleagues with the implementation of policy, protocol, service/practice development and change within own area of responsibility
To continue to demonstrate specialist clinical skills in practice and provide support/advice re service development and the delivery of care, in partnership with service users, carers, staff, managers and other agencies.
