Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a full time, 37.5 hours, Band 7 Lead Nurse to work within the Community Team for Learning Disabilities providing services for adults with a learning disability across East Riding of Yorkshire.
The team embraces the national context of 'Transforming Care' and the vision set out in "Building the right support" and the "National service model for commissioners of health and care services". The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Psychologists and Health Care Assistants; offering clinical advice and support to individuals with complex health needs and their families and career's by providing person centred care plans in order to optimise health outcomes and improve quality of life. They will also be responsible for providing clinical leadership to the Band 5 and 6 nurses within the team.
The post holder will hold a RNLD or RMH qualification and have been working at Band 6 or above for at least 2 years, they will also have appropriate qualifications at degree level or strong evidence that they are working at this level.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, be able to apply research into practice and show flexibility in changing and challenging situations. They must demonstrate a range of leadership qualities in order to provide day to day management of complex and sometimes crisis situations.
As a Band 7 Nurse within the Learning Disability service you may also on occasion be asked to provide support and cover to other parts of the service during periods of increased clinical pressures.
Whilst the post is based at Alfred Bean Hospital the post holder will work across both Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Due to this you will need to be a car owner/driver and hold a current driving license, unless you have a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995
