Job summary

We are looking for a proactive and compassionate individual with strong people management skills and experience of working at a senior level of administration within the NHS. You will be dynamic, motivated, and committed to supporting a wide range of teams across the directorate.

You will be responsible for the line management of the administrators within the Directorate which includes administration of board subcommittee's, overseeing service delivery, corporate governance compliance, Workforce issues and ensuring relevant standards are met at all times.

You will also have a responsibility in supporting the management of the administration service, including cross-cover with colleagues when necessary and leading on specific projects.

This role involves working closely with both the Director of Finance and associated deputy directors across the Finance directorate. The successful candidate will have strong leaderships kills and will be adept at building relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role will include -

  • To support the Finance Directorate to deliver a range of functions associated with setting up and managing complex systems and processes
  • To support, manage, supervise and lead any staff assigned to support the administration of the directorate
  • To demonstrate specialist skills in practice and contribute support/advice the development, review and implementation of policy, protocol guidelines, processes and service development relevant to the area of work, in partnership with the service and other departments as appropriat

Core Functions - this includes but is not limited to:

  • As a member of the Finance directorate you will provide specialist administration knowledge and experience to ensure the services within the division make the best use of the administration support.
  • You will work with the Director of Finance to ensure deadlines are met at all times and that the correct governance route is adhered to.
  • Take a pro-active approach to resolving admin related queries and problems using own initiative.
  • Input to the development and improvement of management/administrative processes, working with other stakeholders.
  • Manage various directorate email in-box, actioning requests wherever possible or delegating to colleagues where necessary.
  • Cover the essential work of other members of the Directorate admin team during periods of absence where tasks are appropriate to this role.
