Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Hull & East Riding Memory Assessment Service. This role will involve working within a forward thinking, developing Occupational Therapy Team which is part of the multi-disciplinary Memory Assessment Service. Based at Coltman Street, Hull you must be able to travel the whole of the East Riding to visit people in their own homes or at venues used by the team across the county.

The successful applicant will be part of a small Occupational Therapy Team who provide assessment and interventions to people who have been referred for Memory Assessment or have a recent Dementia diagnosis.

All interventions will be advised by and carried out under the supervision of the Senior Occupational Therapist in the team.

There may be the opportunity for flexible working hours and/or remote working. This is a key role in the process of Dementia Diagnosis and enabling people to live a good life with a Dementia Diagnosis.

Main duties of the job

Carries out duties delegated by the Occupational Therapist

  • Undertakes general duties within the department
  • To provide Occupational Therapy, as delegated to support patients/service-users within standard operation procedures and contribute to the care planning process as a member of the team.

To work with the Occupational Therapy Team within the Hull & East Riding Memory Assessment team you will be expected:

  • To be responsible for working with delegated service users and contributing to assessments and interventions to address key occupational areas of self-care, taking in to account risk and the needs of those caring for the person living with Dementia.
  • To participate in clinical supervision
  • To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working
  • To contribute to safety and quality improvement activities as part of occupational therapy team.
  • To use the Trust electronic patient record system
  • To abide by all Trust policies and procedures
  • To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges
