Main duties of the job
Derwent Ward is a 10 bedded medium secure ward within the Humber Centre for Forensic Psychiatry. We provide specialised support to males over the age of 18 who are detained under the Mental Health Act and have come in contact with the criminal justice system. Our Specialist Nurses are key members of the team who lead from the front and support their colleagues to deliver high quality care and interventions to our patient population. We work as a fully integrated multi-disciplinary team and have dedicated professionals, from each allied discipline, on hand to support the patients and staff team.
We provide a 24-hour service, and the 12-hour shifts patterns offer our staff members increased flexibility and a greater ability to maintain a positive work-life balance. You would be working closely with the Ward Manager to provide evidence-based nursing advice to peers and junior staff. In addition to shift leading, our Specialist Nurses have specific lead roles which allow them to explore, research and develop their own areas of expertise and share that knowledge with their colleagues.
