Job summary

The Humber Centre provides specialist care and treatment for people with serious mental illness who are detained under the Mental Health Act in a secure environment. Our service users are adult males who may have been detained in the judicial system, or who exhibit high risk behaviour.

As a Ward Manager you will provide effective leadership and management to staff to promote high performance standards both individually and as a team, in order to achieve the Trust's objectives and priorities.

You will become an intrinsic member of the senior management team and assist in the development of the forensic services in-line with the strategic goals and vision of the service

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Ward Manager to join our team at the Humber Centre (low and Medium Secure Unit) in Hull. As a band 7 Ward Manager you will join our existing leadership team, working collaboratively with the wider team and Modern Matron to ensure we provide excellent care to our patients. You will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and will provide inspirational leadership to your multi-disciplinary team.

Essential

  • Current Mental Health Registered Nurse Qualification
  • Leadership/Management qualifications or experience of managing people, teams, service delivery

Desirable

  • Prepared to undertake or hold an accredited leadership qualification
  • Ability to effectively commute between the organisations various sites
  • Occasional to moderate sitting in a restricted position, manoeuvring therapy equipment and or patients, active physical movement

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area,
  • Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
  • Evidence of undertaking audits/surveys

  • Member of specialist interest group/network, regionally or nationally

  • Evidence of sound post-registration professional practice
  • Leadership/management experience which has had a positive impact and created change within the service delivery/practice

  • Proven leadership/management experience, able to demonstrate examples of positive impact/change within service delivery/practice at an advanced/expert level
  • A breadth of clinical practice including clinically specialising in the field where the post is held
