An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Cardiac Catheter Labs for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our dynamic and friendly teams. If you are an enthusiastic, flexible and passionate individual then this would be an ideal opportunity for you.
As the successful candidate, you will be expected to work across both Northwick Park and Ealing Hospital within the 2 sites there are three Cardiac Catheter labs and an day care unit on each site. The labs run Monday to Friday with an additional list on one day at a weekend at Northwick Park and you would be expected to work different hours across those days.
You will be expected to provide cross site cover with the other sites within our trust when required. This will allow you to develop your Catheter lab skills in all areas of intervention.
Potential candidates must have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You must have the ability to work under pressure.
A desire for personal professional development is essential. Additional university and in-house courses will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The Labs carry out many cardiac procedures, including TOE's, Cardioversion's, invasive angiography, EKOS and insertion of devices.
You will be expected to provide cross site cover with the other sites within our trust when required. This will allow you to develop your Catheter lab skills in all areas of intervention.

Deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterisation and interventional procedures (e.g. coronary angiography, PCI, device implantation support).

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised nursing care pre-, intra-, and post-procedure.
-
Assist with procedures in scrubbed, circulating, and monitoring roles as required, following appropriate training and competency assessment.

Monitor patients vital signs, cardiac rhythm, and haemodynamic status during procedures and escalate concerns appropriately.

Prepare patients physically and psychologically for procedures, obtaining baseline observations and ensuring informed consent processes are completed.

Provide post-procedure care, including haemostasis management, observation for complications, patient education, and discharge planning.

Respond effectively to emergencies, including cardiac arrest, following Trust resuscitation policies.

Maintain a safe clinical environment, adhering to infection prevention and control, radiation safety, and health and safety policies.
