An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen to work within an innovative and dynamic team of therapists within London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. We are looking for enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our expanding hand therapy and orthopaedic service.

The post holder will predominately be working across hand therapy and orthopaedic wards at Ealing Hospital.

The Therapy Department holds a high profile within the Trust and you will be encouraged to develop your clinical, teaching and managerial skills according to the area of work setting and CPD guidelines. Support and supervision will be provided by experienced occupational therapists. Our multidisciplinary Therapies department is committed to development and offers a large range of in-service and external training to suit individual's needs. There are new and exciting projects continually being undertaken which you will be given the opportunity to partake in.

We run a seven day service and you will be expected to work one in 5 to 6 weekends, which is followed by rest days.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner, assisting in the coordination and provision of a specialist occupational therapy service to patients within the acute orthopaedics/hand therapy team.

Provide assessment and treatment for patients with a wide range of complex physical, sensory, perceptual and cognitive problems within inpatient, which may include visits to assess the home environment, and also work with outpatient hand therapy patients.

Manage their own caseload working alongside the multi-disciplinary team and other external agencies to ensure specialist treatment plans, including physio, Social Services, specialist nurses etc.

Work collaboratively with patients, family, carers and with colleagues in health and social services to ensure effective service planning, policy and delivery of services to their specific patient group.

Deputise in the absence of the Advanced Occupational Therapist to represent the department at relevant meetings both in and outside the Trust.

Contribute to departmental meetings, and participate in audits and regularly undertake research and CPD activities in specialist area.

Be responsible for maintaining a professional and specialist knowledge base through participation in appraisal and CPD activities and attendance at specialist courses relevant to area of work.

Be responsible for planning and delivering specialist education to other OTs, professionals and patient/carers on aspects of sensory, perceptual, physical.
