Job summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Physician Associates (PAs) to join the Department of Haematology at Northwick Park Hospital (NPH), part of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
The post is suitable for PAs who have at least 12 months post qualification experience.
Applicants must hold a science-related degree prior to having attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Physician Associate/Assistant Studies from an accredited UK training program or overseas equivalent. They must also be registered with the Managed Voluntary Register for Physician Associates. It is also expected that the post-holder will be a great ambassador for the Physician Associate profession. Applicants who do not meet these criteria need not apply.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work alongside 2 other PAs and under the supervision of Haematology Consultants in the inpatient and outpatient/daycase settings to deliver high quality patient care, will demonstrate relevant clinical competence and be able to work in harmony as part of an MDT, with good organisational and communication skills. The role of Physician Associate is well established in the Trust where PAs assess patients, arrange management plans and perform procedures after appropriate training, whilst working closely within a multi-disciplinary team. The PA is accountable for the care given and is expected to comply with the Fitness to Practice and Code of Conduct standards established by the Faculty of Physician Associates, led by the Royal College of Physicians. The PA is also expected to contribute towards education, training and staff development within the department, as well as participate in research and clinical audit activities.
