The Regional Hyper-Acute Rehabilitation Unit is a tertiary service which caters for adults with severe complex neurological disability. It is a highly specialised Level 1 service providing interventions across London and the South East. It combines inpatient services with outreach to support community rehabilitation teams and other professionals across the region. It is recognised as one of the UK's leading rehabilitation centres and is a model for good rehabilitation practice across the world.

Main duties of the job

This exciting post has become available for a clinician with substantial experience working in the field of neuro-rehabilitation. You would be responsible for the line management and clinical leadership of a dynamic Speech and Language Therapy team, as well as contributing to the overall leadership of the service.
Alongside leadership duties, the postholder maintains a clinical caseload, delivering expert assessment and intervention. You will be expected to have strong analytical, problem solving and therapeutic skills and have developed clinical expertise in some of the relevant treatment areas, including FEES, VFSS, tracheostomy, AAC and prolonged disorders of consciousness.
You will play a key role in developing policy and contributing to planning within the RHRU, demonstrating leadership skills, excellent communication skills and an ability to work flexibly and collaboratively. You will work with other experienced discipline leads in a collaborative and supportive environment.
We will provide support for further post-graduate training, development of areas of advanced practice, and support for active participation in research and clinical audit projects. You will contribute to national and international training opportunities, through the RHRU courses and presentations at conferences and study days.
