Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated Faster Diagnostic Service (FDS) Nurse to join our gynaecology team, playing a crucial role in streamlining the diagnostic pathway for patients referred with suspected gynaecological cancers.
As an FDS Nurse, you will be an integral member of the MDT, responsible for triaging a wide range of 2-week wait cancer referrals from both primary and secondary care. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive a high-quality, safe, effective, and timely diagnostic pathway. You will also support the Trust in achieving compliance with Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC), Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) and Referral to Treatment (RTT) waiting time targets.
The service is Monday- Friday 9am-5pm.
Main duties of the job

Triaging and coordinating 2-week wait cancer referrals, ensuring timely and appropriate diagnostic procedures.

Acting as a key point of contact for patients, providing support, information, and guidance throughout the diagnostic process.

Collaborating with consultants, specialist nurses, and diagnostic teams to enhance patient experience and streamline pathways.

Contributing to the development and improvement of the Faster Diagnostic Service, ensuring best practices and adherence to national cancer targets.

Maintaining accurate documentation and patient records in accordance with clinical governance and hospital policies.
