Job summary
We are looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic pharmacist to help lead, deliver and develop inpatient pharmacy services to the surgery wards at Northwick Park hospital.
Senior Specialist Pharmacist for Surgery
This is a part-time post. The post holder will be required to participate in the on-call (back up), weekend, bank holiday and late-night duty rotas.
Main duties of the job
Key duties include:
Manage, provide and develop a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to the Surgical Directorate wards and clinical areas, in accordance with Trust policies.
Have oversight of the Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy assistants providing the Pharmacy services to the Surgical directorate.
To act as a lead for the training and development of the rotational band 6 and 7 pharmacists during their Surgery rotations.
To be a practice tutor and educational facilitator to pharmacists taking the JPB postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice
To assist in the training, development and supervision of ward-based Pharmacy technicians and assistants
To work as an independent prescriber, or work towards gaining the relevant qualification, in accordance with a defined scope of practice agreed by the NMP Group
To help with multidisciplinary training to nurses, doctors and other Healthcare professionals
Plan, organise and conduct audit within both the pharmacy department and the Surgical directorate.
Participate in the provision of general pharmacy services such as dispensing for discharge, weekends, public holidays, late duty and on-call duties
